News, Halo 3

Back in 2007, movie director Neill Blomkamp put together a three piece spectacle of Halo-sized proportions called Halo: Landfall. The all live action video was a glimpse of what the (now dead) Halo movie could have been if Blomkamp's movie magic were applied.

Well, two enthusiastic Halo fanboys took it upon themselves to re-create the entire Landfall film experience as a machinima using Halo 3's game engine. Admittedly, UNSC soldiers are swapped out for Spartans and Brutes are replaced with Elites, but other than that, the video is spot on. Oh how we miss the days when our Halo film dreams were still a possibility ... sigh.

On March 3, the final game from famed developer Ensemble Studios will make its way to retail. Halo Wars takes players from the first-person perspective to the real-time strategy realm and has quickly become one of the Xbox 360's most exciting releases of the early 2009 calendar. On February 5, a demo for Halo Wars will drop on the Xbox Live Marketplace but, why wait that long? Planet Xbox 360 and MLGPRO are giving away 10 codes each to get the demo on January 29. Each site has different methods of registering to win, so make sure to check them both out. Good luck to all the impatient gamers salivating at a chance to pick up the demo early.

That wacky Jerry Bruckheimer is at it again! MTV Movies Blog is reporting that Bruckheimer will debut a new Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie poster within his upcoming film, Confessions of a Shopaholic. In a scene half-way through Shopaholic, the new Prince of Persia poster - not the supposedly leaked version you see here - will be on display in the background in Times Square.

According to the report, the new poster will feature star Jake Gyllenhaal in full-costume as Prince Dastan (remember, they named him for the film, for some reason). We're happy that we're getting a look at the new poster and all ... but Jerry, you really need to fire your market research team. Something tells me that this fan service is being wasted on the wrong demographic.

News, Fallout 3

Regardless of how many times its software is contending for Game of the Year accolades, Bethesda isn't immune to criticism and Fallout 3 is no exception. Speaking with MTV Multiplayer blog, Bethesda Softworks executive producer, Todd Howard, discussed three major complaints fans and haters alike have about the recently released Fallout 3.

First criticism out of the gate is that Fallout 3 is only mediocre when judged as a shooter to which Todd Howard quickly agreed. Secondly, each ending of Fallout 3 has been blasted for its quick and dirty wrap up. Howard argues that many people are more upset about the game actually ending than the ending itself and promises the upcoming Broken Steel DLC will combat that by allowing players to continue their adventure. Lastly, critics say that VATS can be rather boring once players are able to almost always get a head shot. Howard says that everyone has a different concept of entertainment and watching a head explode in Fallout 3 never gets old for him, but he admits, "the 'to hit chance' for head shots is probably too high." Three complaints down. So, are you satisfied with Howard's responses to these Fallout 3 criticisms?
