We just came across an Avatar ad on the New Xbox Experience's Spotlight section (viewable above) that informs us that every two weeks new Avatar clothing will be available, which will double the current fashion selection over the next few months. And to keep everyone informed on the new goods, all new apparel will be marked with a yellow star when it's released. We should also mention that we are not sure if the the upcoming fashion choices will be free or paid content (please be free) as we've heard Microsoft express their willingness to monetize Avatars in the future. We'll just have to wait and see.

According to Joystiq (and confirmed by MTV Multiplayer) Netflix has pulled all Columbia Pictures content from the Xbox 360 instant view library due to "licensing problems." But, wouldn't you know, all the blocked content can still be viewed online and through all other Netflix enabled TV devices except for the 360. Netflix hopes to license all the currently blocked content to the Xbox 360 in the near future. We're not happy with you Sony ... we're not happy at all.

After hearing about gamers' anger and general confusion surrounding Gears of War 2's online ranking system, team Epic has come to the rescue by explaining how the whole ranking thing works.

According to Gears community manager SixOkay, the Gears 2 ranking system strictly uses Microsoft's TrueSkill which is was created using chess' ELO rating system. This means that ranks aren't calculated strictly by points or kills, instead a rank is determined by your wins and losses AND whether or not you were favored to win the match. Also, the five different icons used to express your rank (viewable above) are used as a general range of ranks attainable, so small fluctuations in your win / loss ration won't instantly change your icon. News, Call of Duty: World at War

GI.biz reports that first week sales of Call of Duty: World at War in the UK have exceeded first week sales of Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat by a margin of more than 2 to 1. The game landed in the number one spot in the UK for all platforms according to Chart-Track. Considering the previous installment sold over 10 million copies, it's not too surprising that the latest has managed to pick up significant sales. Another thing that isn't too surprising (though perhaps a little alarming) is that Activision published games make up more than 25% of all game sales in the UK last week (thanks in no small part to the Lich King).

The next step: Activision acquires a little start-up named Cyberdyne Systems. You know the rest.
